Mass Effect 3: New Multiplayer “Reckoning” DLC … and I’m back!

Well, two items of good news – my Xbox LIVE connection came back to life yesterday!  So, now I can triumphantly return to ME3 and game with you guys :)

But more importantly, I missed the boat a few days ago on the new Mass Effect 3 DLC – apparently some people have already mined the recent update (thread on Reddit) for info on the new DLC.

“The day of reckoning is nigh! The Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion brings six new never before seen co-op story missions to the game and new co-op gameplay modes. It provides four new maps to conquer and hazard variations of the Earth maps. It also enables reinforcement packs that offer new kits for the salarians, krogans, humans and volus. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Chakram Launcher, Blood Pack Punisher and Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle).”

Wow, six new missions and co-op modes?  Awesome!  I’m not sure what “new kits for salarians, krogans, humans, and volus” refers to – maybe race-specific gear?  Or is it too much for me to hope for new characters? :)

What have you guys heard about this new DLC?  Any thoughts on when it will be released?  Let me know in comments!

  1. Bioware refers to characters as “kits” for some reason.
I’ve been hoping they would add the Blood Back Punisher and Adas for a while. Wouldnt mind the Executioner pistol and Venon shotgun, either, though the latter is sure to be heavily nerfed, due to “balancing” for the crybabies. I never understood the need to “balance” a co-op game, but that’s a topic for another day.
I hope this turns out to be true. Have there been any ME3 rumors that weren’t?

  2. Welcome back! I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months, and I think it’s great. Now that you’re back on Live, we should play sometime. My gamertag is Blade Viper6

    • No, we don’t. We already have too many joke characters, they’re called Volus.
And the Hanar don’t even have arms, so they would be even more useless. The Drell assist them with combat, and anything else that requires arms. It’s part of “the compact.” I think that’s what it’s called.
And Elcor? They’re gigantic talking elephants. They wouldn’t be able to navigate most maps, and would get stuck on pretty much everything. And not only would they (obviously) not be able to dodge, you can forget running and taking cover, too. And do I even need to mention that they’re quadrupeds?

      • I got through Platinum/Reactor/Collectors with a team of 4 voluses! They’re not great standalone characters but if you have the right team, it’s really fun to play as one (or 4) :) I think the Elcor would be super slow but wouldn’t it be fun to hear them say things in-game?

  3. Any news on a new Missile Glitch yet since the latest patch (1.05 on 360)? I’ve heard rumors that there is a new way already, but haven’t been able to find any information yet.

  4. Welcome back! Glad to see you’ll be entering the fight again. The DLC sounds promising but as rdd said, the senseless “balancing” will probably ruin it in short order.

      • I’d like there to be an Asari Commando soldier with Flare for two reasons. The first is because it’s obviously awesome. And the second is just to see all the cries from the pissants on BSN for it to be nerfed because it’s “over-powered.” They make me laugh. If Matrix were here, he’d laugh too.

  5. All good things must come to an end, and that includes the Commander Shepard trilogy. However, just because it is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean we can’t go out with a bang. Introducing the final Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC: Reckoning!

Prepare for the Reckoning! Newfound allies join the multiplayer war for survival in Mass Effect 3: Reckoning. The Geth Juggernaut, Female Turian Raptor, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit, and more take up arms to stop the Reaper threat. Smash your enemies with the Biotic Hammer as you lay waste to the battlefield as the Krogan Warlord.

Wield 7 new weapons for multiplayer, including the Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle, Venom Shotgun, Lancer Assault Rifle, and amplify your arsenal with new equipment and weapon mods featuring the Geth Scanner and Assault Rifle Ultralight materials.

Mass Effect 3: Reckoning launches at no additional cost worldwide on February 26th on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 (on February 27th on PlayStation 3 in Europe)
