Fallout 4: How to install Fallout 4 mods in just two steps
Installing Fallout 4 mods is manual right now since the creation kit isn’t out and mods aren’t installable via Nexus Mod Manager yet, so here are my instructions on how to install mods for those of you who are confused!
1. Update your Fallout4.ini file
You only need to do this ONCE if you add all the elements I recommend – they address any mods you would hope to install later. The Fallout4.ini is in the My Documents/My Games/Fallout4/Fallout4.ini by default. In the [Archive] section, set ResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\
2. Unzip the mod into your Fallout 4 folder
Basically, any time you download a mod (unless it’s a reshader), you’ll need to unzip the file into your Fallout 4 > Data folder. It’s located by default in Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4
There, see? Not so hard at all. Happy modding!
