If videos are easier for you to follow, go here!
Included in zip:
XXXX.tpf*
XXXX.upk (optional for manual install)
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc*
Resources folder (this is a modder’s resource – you will not need these files if you are doing an install of this mod)
*required
I included the Resources folder for anyone who wants to mess with the mod in 3DS Max, but otherwise, you won’t need it. The .upk file is required if you want to replace a particular hair mesh. The .pcc file is required if you just want an easy, quick install.
Required Programs:
ME3 Explorer (this mod was created using the latest version of ME3Explorer Versions 0109K)
Gibbed Mass Effect Save Editor
Texmod
FEMSHEP INSTALL:
****MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc FILE BEFORE YOU START IN CASE YOU MESS UP.****
Easy Instructions (using .pcc):
1. Paste the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc into your game’s CookedPCConsole folder (BioGameCookedPCConsole).
2. Skip to Step 8 under Manual Instructions!
Manual Instructions (using .upk):
1. Open ME3 Explorer.
2. Open Meshplorer (Developer Tools > Mesh > Meshplorer)
3. Load the PCC (File > Load PCC )
4. Open the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc file located in your game’s CookedPCConsole folder (BioGameCookedPCConsole).
5. Click on the hair you want to replace – HMF_HIR_PROJessica_MDL. (You can replace other hairs too, but if you’re a noob, just follow my instructions exactly).
6. Go to Transfer > Import UDK … a new window will open. Go to File > Open UDK package and select the .UPK file.
7. Click on the file that appears in the left window and then LOD 0 should appear in the right window. Click on LOD 0 and then go to Import LOD. A little popup should say “Done” after. Now you can close Meshplorer.

8. Go to Tools > Tocbinupdater in ME3 Explorer.
9. Go to File > Check PCTocbin and select your PCConsoleTOC.bin file located under your game’s BioGame folder.
10. It should find an update and a popup will ask you if you want to update it – click yes.
OK YOU’RE DONE WITH ME3 EXPLORER!
NOW OPEN UP GIBBED.
11. Follow these directions to edit your hair in Gibbed!
Using this information:
Hair Mesh: BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_PROJessica.HMF_HIR_PROJessica_MDL
Hair_Diff: BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02.HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff
Hair_Mask: BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02.HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff
Note: Some hairstyles will look fine in most cutscenes but there can be weird transparency issues during combat. This has to do with the Hair_Diff and Hair_Mask. You can play around with the Hair_Diff and Hair_Mask in Gibbed to try and find a better solution than the one I gave above – the transparency issues have nothing to do with the mod texture or mesh itself, so good luck :)
OK NOW YOU’RE DONE WITH GIBBED!
ONE MORE STEP!
12. Open Texmod and load the .tpf (detailed instructions for complete noobs here)
RUN THE GAME FROM TEXMOD AND YOUR SHEP SHOULD HAVE GORGEOUS HAIR!
If you use this mod, please consider donating to girlplaysgame.com – I will always provide mods to everyone for free but I could really use some help maintaining the site servers. Thanks for your support! :)
I did all as tutoril said, but now my shep has green deformed face… What with that? I used the titanium hair mod.
It keeps saying no updates found, I get to the very last steps and there is no update to be found, what did I not do? Was I supposed to add some file or something to the biogame folder??
Sometimes it will say that if the new file size is the same as the old file size. Did it work when you opened the game?
Hi, I was wondering why there would be a black “shadowed” or blacked out section on the neck and ears of the shepherd that is using a hair mod? I’ve never had this happen and was wondering what it could be from. I even went back to using instructions so I didn’t miss steps, plus it’s been some time since I’ve modded ME3 so I could be missing something still. Any insight would be so greatly appreciated. I’ve restarted this game 3 or 4 times because of this. Thank you and thank you for sharing these new lovely hair styles since my last play through! :)
This texture bug happened to me once, too. Not sure what causes it but I am sure it’s a ME3Explorer/Texplorer problem and not a mod-related problem. The neck and ears part of Shep is the SCALP part of the face texture, which isn’t touched by any of my mods. Unfortuantely, the only way I’ve found to fix it was to reinstall my game :(
I restarted my game today and everything was fine. Now I’m having crashes out the ying/yang…sigh….I can’t enter the civilian Docking Bay w/o my game crashing and then freezing the whole computer. I’ve never had that happen before. And while on Palavin it kept crashing and freezing when I tried to use powers….I’m not sure what is going on with the thing. I just did a clean install on the thing before I started this play through. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
What mods are you using? Sounds like you’re using a mod that modifies the Citadel or Palaven assets?
Hi! the detailed instructions for texmod aren’t linked
