Skyrim: RAWR-paint – Male Warpaints mod by me!

Welcome to my first Skyrim mod! I haven’t done any Skyrim modding simply because there are so many great mods out there that I never really needed to create my own stuff. Well, the other day, I was looking for a Hawke blood smear from Dragon Age 2 to use on my Skyrim character and couldn’t find one so I made my own. Then I got the modding bug and decided to create ten video game character (loosely) inspired warpaints, because hey, male characters don’t get nearly enough love in Skyrim. Enjoy the fruits of my labor!

RAWR-paint – Male Warpaints by girlplaysgame

These are some high resolution (2048×2048) swanky male warpaints made by me, based on my favorite video game characters of all time. Some are pretty literal (like Hawke’s blood smear) and some are very loosely inspired (like Shepard’s tattoo … those are Reaper scratch marks hehehe!). My mod is available for download for a limited time on Nexusmods.

Here is a little explanation for my warpaint names, if you’re interested:

TESV 2015-07-21 20-49-12-17

Squall – I know Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII has a scar down the middle of his face, but the warpaint looked really ugly there so I moved it over. Like I said, “loosely inspired.”

TESV 2015-07-21 20-49-32-00

Kenway – This warpaint was inspired by this image of Connor Kenway (Ratonhnhake:ton), cool, huh!

TESV 2015-07-21 20-49-52-73

Redfield – I don’t know why this reminded me of Chris Redfield from the Resident Evil series … I guess it looks a little jock-y and that’s what Chris is to me.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-50-37-89

Shepard – Look, Reaper claw marks! Inspired by Mass Effect 3.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-51-05-29

Axton – this is pretty full on exactly how Axton has his tattoo in Borderlands 2.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-51-43-09

Solas – technically, the script is in Lord of the Rings Elvish and says something like “live faithful” … I just liked how the script looked, and it reminded me of Solas from Dragon Age: Inquisition.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-52-04-02

Booker – inspired by Booker from Bioshock: Infinite … it’s Elizabeth’s handprint, duh.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-52-22-22

Hawke – oh you know, Hawke’s warpaint/blood smear from Dragon Age 2.

TESV 2015-07-21 20-52-42-85

Noctis – this tattoo was like “goth lite” to me, just like Noctis from FFXV

TESV 2015-07-21 20-58-25-47

Jensen – I love Adam Jensen’s eye implants in Deus Ex but I wanted a subtle reminder in this warpaint

Hope you enjoy!

How to install:

Use NMM to install all the warpaints.

Or,if you want to only install a few, manually unzip the file and put only the warpaints you want into your Data/textures/actors/character/character assets/tintmasks folder.

For high resolution warpaints to display properly, you will need to make these adjustments in your SKSE folder:

  • Locate your Data directory
  • Create SKSE folder if it is not already there
  • Create SKSE.ini if it is not already there
  • Add “[Display]” category
  • Add “iTintTextureResolution=2048”

  1. I’m going to begin playing Skyrim soon). I’m a PC noob, so I thought I’d try a quick playthrough of TES: Oblivion with mods (not my own) just to have a direct comparison with something Ive played on a console.

    • The textures will technically work on females if you rename the files, but they will not appear on the same place on the female face. I’m working on releasing a full female version of the mod! Also, I’m going to release a standalone Hawke blood smear version of the mod for males and females TODAY since multiple people have requested it. :)

  2. You know, I have never ever played a male character, as I like to identify with the characters I play. But I’m looking at your pics and starting to reconsider. Guys play female toons because as they often will say, I prefer staring at a woman’s butt….and well maybe they have a point? Would you consider releasing a series of presets? I know you said they never look right outside of your game, but I’m sure that’s because the wrong mods were used. When I have combined a preset with all the correct mods, I’ve obtained results very similar to the original. Especially when combined with a similar ENB

    • Yes, a set of presets is definitely on my to-do list! I hope they work for you :D I usually play a female character as my first playthrough, then I switch to male so I can stare at butts for a while. :D
